Special Rodeo 2010“The ‘Special Rodeo’ is an event that provides High School students the opportunity to share the sport of rodeo with special needs kids. During the event local special needs kids are paired up with Rodeo athletes to participate in modified rodeo events. Each exceptional cowboy and cowgirl is able to participate in events such as the Stick horse Barrel Racing and Polebending, ride a rocking bucking horse and bull, as well as learn to tie a fake goat and rope a fake cow. Every ‘Special Rodeo’ contestant is a winner and will be presented with a beautiful custom designed Gist medallion, and will be taking home a cowboy hat, bandana and official back number. The ‘Special Rodeo’ is a wonderful way for High school Rodeo members to give back to the communities that are home to their rodeos, and touch the lives of kids who are less privileged than themselves. It’s a wonderful hands on experience for all that participate and is a heartwarming event for anyone involved. Giving these wonderful young people this chance to be a cowboy or cowgirl for a day is made possible by Cargill Cares and the different Cargill divisions; Nutrena, Cargill Dressings, sauces and oils, Cargill Salt, Cargill sweeteners, Excel Meats and Horizon Milling who are California High School Rodeo’s Official Special Rodeo Sponsors. Cargill has been our sponsor for years and continues to offer the support necessary to keep the Special Rodeo Going!” |
